I have two Wharfs, with wmCalClock, wmdl (cool app for load), wmmon, wmppp, asmail, wmmount, wmmixer and wmpinboard. The last one is a xflame swallowed with *Wharf Quit - Swallow "XFlame" xflame -fps 4 -width 56 -height 56 & It is the front of a folder with Recycle, Shutdown and Quit. The other Wharf is horizontal. I played with the enlightenment buttons. They are the best for small icons. I have xterm, netscape, gimp and two calls for xmodmap: Brazilian and US keyboards. It has my favourite app: a swallowed aterm for quick access. The logs are aterms capturing /dev/console, /var/log/messages and output from afterstep with font nexus from fonts.themes.org.
